
Lafayette PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency
About Our Program
Franciscan Health Lafayette offers a postgraduate year-one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program. The residency program provides a variety of practice settings with a focus on comprehensive patient care, practice management and internal medicine. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
We offer two PGY1 pharmacy residency positions. The residency educates and encourages hands-on pharmacy practice. We expect the following of residents:
Complete core rotations and longitudinal experiences
Present an ACPE-accredited continuing education program
Conduct a medication use evaluation
Conduct and present a residency research project
Provide clinical instruction to fourth-year PharmD candidates
Recognize and help develop opportunities to expand clinical pharmacy services
Conduct Journal Club presentations and drug information inquiries
Work as inpatient staff pharmacist every third weekend

ASHP clinical midyear meeting and Great Lakes Pharmacy Residency Conference
Development of autonomy as a practitioner, with readily available access to preceptor support
Development of professionalism and communication skills through daily interactions with patients and healthcare professionals
Development of effective organizational and integrative skills

Resident candidates must participate and adhere to the rules of the Residency Match Program and submit all materials through PhORCAS. Application deadline: January 2nd.

The Franciscan Health Lafayette Residency Advisory Committee will review all applications and select candidates for interviews. Our program prefers on-site interviews, which allow candidates to meet preceptors and residents, tour our facilities, and ensure a good fit for candidates and our program.
Applicants must fit one of the following criteria:
PharmD candidate from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
Hold a PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
Have a bachelor of science degree with at least two years of hospital experience
Be a citizen or legal resident of the United States
