About Our Ambulatory Care Program
The purpose of this residency is to prepare the trainee with the necessary skills to excel as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist. At this ASHP-accredited residency program, the resident will have opportunities to learn in a variety of practice environments, including a pharmacist-managed pharmacotherapy clinics, family medicine / internal medicine clinics, cardiology clinics, anticoagulation clinics, telehealth medicine, and population health management. The resident will gain experience with chronic disease management under a collaborative practice agreement for commonly encountered disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, asthma/COPD, smoking cessation, and anticoagulation. The resident will also be actively involved with educational and medication management presentations to patients, providers, and staff in ambulatory clinics. Additionally, the resident will have opportunities to assist with the training and education of pharmacy students and PGY1 Pharmacy Residents.
Program Structure & Information

The longitudinal block format of this program allows the resident to continuously build upon their clinical skills and establish meaningful relationships with patients throughout the year. Core rotation experiences include Anticoagulation clinic, Family Medicine / Internal Medicine (PODS) Clinic, cardiology, and Population Health management. The resident may also gain exposure to unique ambulatory practice environments, such as Franciscan’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and specialty medication clinic. Based on professional interests, the resident will have the opportunity to choose elective experiences during the second half of the year.

Annual Salary: ~$49,400

The resident must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and is required to be licensed in Indiana by August 1st. Licensure in Illinois is strongly encouraged to be obtained by December 31st of that residency year to participate in Illinois-based rotation opportunities. The resident will also need to provide the graduation certificate from an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program during orientation in July.
