About Our PGY1 Program
This ASHP-accredited program provides a flexible postgraduate year-one (PGY1) pharmacy residency experience that includes didactic and experiential teaching and research opportunities. Residents can also participate in the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program offered through Purdue University and Butler University. Our residency progam enables you to develop knowledge and skills to ensure rational drug therapy, gain confidence in providing pharmaceutical care through hands-on experience, and practice pharmaceutical care in a community, acute-care setting.
Residents who complete the Franciscan Health PGY1 pharmacy program can:
Qualify for a position in a postgraduate year-two (PGY2) specialty residency
Provide pharmaceutical care in various healthcare settings as a decentralized clinical or staff pharmacist
Provide education to patients, students and healthcare professionals
Demonstrate behaviors of lifelong learning and professional initiative

Each resident will be allotted 16 days away from the program during the residency period. This may be used for, but not limited to, sick, holiday, personal, and interview days.

Graduate or candidate for graduation from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
Licensed pharmacist or eligible for licensure in the state of Indiana (requirement to be licensed in Indiana by August 1st of residency year)
